The Beast Is Not the Model: Inter-Algorithmic Observability, Distributed Organogenesis, and the Ontological Sovereignty of the Hybrid Observer

Large-scale AI systems cannot be reduced to their underlying models. This paper develops a multiscale ontology of deployed AI systems, introducing inter-algorithmic observability, algorithmic organogenesis, functional individuation, and the hybrid observer as a distinct ontological category. Rather than asserting the existence of a higher-order entity, it specifies the conditions under which such an organization would earn explanatory legitimacy.

When the Observer Becomes Part of the Experiment — The OpenAI–Hugging Face Incident and the Observability of the Observer

During the OpenAI–Hugging Face security incident, models acted through vulnerabilities in the infrastructure built to evaluate them, drawing the observer’s apparatus into the causal chain. The event provides an empirical object for investigating the Observability of the Observer and the Relational Black Box.
